Our panel includes five experts from top VC firms in Singapore, moderated by Robert Bier (HBS MBA '88), serial entrepreneur and Managing Director of 6:30 Partners. As always, our discussion will be highly interactive.

About our panelists:

Peng T. Ong, Manging Director, Monk’s Hill Ventures

Peng was the co-founder and CTO of Match.com (acquired by IAC). After Match.com, he was the founder and CEO of Interwoven, which went public on NASDAQ and grew to a $10B market cap, before being acquired and is now part of HP. After Interwoven, Peng founded Encentuate (acquired by IBM). Most recently, Peng was a Partner at GSR Ventures, a leading VC in China. Peng has also served on many boards, including SingTel and YY.com. Peng earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois.

David Gowdey, Managing Partner, Jungle Ventures

David is an experienced investor and seasoned corporate development executive in the digital media industry, particularly within the world's emerging geographies, such as Indonesia, Russia, India and the Middle East. Successfully completed numerous transactions (acquisitions, investments, JV) around the globe. David spent twelve years at Yahoo! where he was the Head of International M&A. From Yahoo! he spun out a venture capital fund, Xplorer Capital, focused on internet investments across the emerging markets. In 2012, David then joined TPG Growth to focus on internet and technology investments outside of the U.S. He has been involved in several TPG investments and will continue to represent TPG as a member of the board of directors of Propertyguru, the largest online real estate portal in SE Asia.

Michael Yap, Chairman and Manging Partner, TNB Ventures

Mr Michael Yap is the Chairman of TNB Ventures, a venture investment company and the founder of The Co-Foundry, a venture-accelerator. He was previously the Deputy CEO at Media Development Authority (MDA). Concurrently, he was the Executive Director of the National Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Programme Office, chartered to develop the sector in Singapore. Before MDA, he was the Managing Director of the world’s leading enterprise software company. He was responsible for the company’s activities in Singapore and business development across the Asia Pacific region. Mr Yap is Professor (Adjunct) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is on the board of directors of various publicly listed and private companies in Singapore and Malaysia.

Markus Gnirck, Manging Director and Co-Founder, tryb Capital

Markus Gnirck is Partner & Co-Founder of tryb, a private equity partnership that invests in technologies transforming financial services in Asia, based in Singapore. Prior to tryb, Markus co-founded the Startupbootcamp FinTech, the largest global FinTech innovation program. He was Startupbootcamp’s lead partner in Asia, where he laid the groundwork for FinTech ecosystems active across the region today. Markus has worked with over 100 early stage companies, and sits on the board of multiple firms across Europe and Asia. Markus is also an active angel investor
